Fees and Insurance Information

Therapy services are covered by many private insurance companies, 

for example,  

Blue Cross Medavie (direct billing available for certain plans) 

Green Shield (direct billing available) 

Great West 

Telus Health/ Canada Life

Sunlife 

Manulife

However, not all private insurance plans cover psychotherapy services provided by a social worker and/ or clinical therapist. It is highly recommended that you contact your insurance provider and ask if psychotherapy services are covered and what coverage you have,  to ensure claims will be honoured. Most plans require you to pay for the therapy session and then submit the receipt for reimbursement.

Effective July 1, 2022, Thrive Counselling and Consulting's rate for social work/ psychotherapy services, whether individual, couples, or family therapy, service is $175/ clinical hour, as per the recommendation of NSCSW.. Payment can be made by e-transfer, credit card or cash. Invoices and official receipts will be emailed to clients. Therapy services may be claimed as a medical expense for income tax purposes, if applicable.

Therapists at Thrive will write letters and complete reports to support clients when it is clinically appropriate and within our scope of practice. Documentation requests will be billed at the same rate as a clinical therapy hour, with a minimum charge of 30 minutes/ $87.50 per request. The total fee will be based on the actual time required to complete this documentation and the fee must be paid prior to providing such completed documentation to the client or the third party recipient. 

Thrive requires a minimum of 1 business day notice (at least 24 hours)  for cancellations.  The earlier you let us know you need to cancel the easier it is to offer the spot to another client. No-shows and late cancellations will be charged the full fee for the clinical session. Please note that insurance providers and third party payers do not cover no-shows or cancellations.
